Finding earth's horizontal magnetic field

This experiment is based on using the deflection from a compass needle as the magnetic field from a current carrying coil is changed. The field is measured using a Hall sensor.

The experiment is similar to the principle of the tangent galvanometer. It included the following components:
  • Qosain's power supply PhysVolt15.0 
  • Coil with 1500 turns
  • Frame with sliding groove
  • Compass needles (2)
  • Hall sensor with Hall voltage offset nulling and amplifier box
  • Voltmeters for power supply, Hall voltage measurement
  • Digital ammeter for current measurement
